BROWN

Brown County is one of the southernmost counties in Ohio and bounded by the great Ohio River to the south. History enthusiasts will find Brown County a mecca of significant historical sites:

The Underground Railroad, The Rankin House, Ulysses Grant's Boyhood Home and School House, Aunt Jemima's Grave, The John Parker House, The Trail of John Hunt Morgan's Raid, and The Bailey House to name a few.

There are also historic rivertowns such as Aberdeen, Ripley, and Higginsport. Georgetown (county seat), Hamersville, Mt. Orab, Sardinia, Fayetteville, Russellville and other towns all echo the dramtic history of southern Ohio. It was in these lands that people such as Simon Kenton, Daniel Boone, Tecumseh, John Rankin, and U.S. Grant shaped American History.

The fertile soils of the Ohio River Valley make Brown County a highly productive farming community and it's broad expanse is ideal for industrial development. Major highways such as route 32 place Brown a short distance from Cincinnati and Georgetown has it's own airport with a lighted runway. Brown County also boasts private access to the largest commercial highway in the Eastern United States; the historic Ohio River!
As evidenced by history Brown County's greatest resource is her people that make up a reliable and abundant work force. Local schools provide an excellent educational experience for students, and higher education is represented by the presence of Southern States and Chatfield Colleges.
Brown County is a growing community with much to offer; a wonderful place to visit or live!
